Wortman and his assistant Amy Daggett have published textbook chapters and dozens of articles during the past 30 years, in peer-review journals. In 1991 he and Amy Daggett invented the technique of endomyometrial resection (EMR) which is most successful of the so-called “endometrial ablation techniques” – methods that are designed to obviate hysterectomy in women with abnormal menstrual bleeding.ĭr. Wortman introduced many innovations in gynecology, particularly in the fields of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and office-based surgery. After serving as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Genesee Valley Group Health Association he opened his private gynecology practice in 1986 which later became known as the Menstrual Disorders– the first medical practice in the United States devoted to menstrual disorders.ĭr. He completed his internship and residency training at Strong Memorial Hospital (1976-80) and was Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1982. Morris Wortman is a suma cum laude graduate of Brooklyn College (1972) and received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine (1976).
